Holding the 17th Meeting of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committee and Working Groups

The 17th meeting of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committee and Working Groups was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 10:00 a.m. this morning.

In the meeting, H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Chairperson of the Legal Translation Commission said that this was 10th meeting since she took the responsibility as the Chairperson of the Commission; during that period, 28 Laws originally written in English from the British colonial era were translated into Myanmar, confirmed, and published in eight books, namely, from Book No. 9 to Book No. 16 were published; The Bills of Lading Act, The District Cesses Act, The Fatal Accidents Act, The Myanmar Passport Act, The Poisons Act and The Religious Societies Act has been published as Book No. 16.

The meeting will discuss the following six laws: The Judicial Officers Protection Act, The Treasure Trove Act, The Obstructions in Fairways Act, The Myanmar Territorial Force Act, The Water Power Act and The Evidence Act and the chairperson has urged the Commission to discuss and provide advice to ensure accurate translations of these laws.

The members of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committee and Working Groups attended and discussed the matters and the meeting will last two days from 7.11.2025 to 8.11.2025.
