Holding the Coordination Meeting on Development Laws

The Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union attended the coordination meeting on existing development laws implemented in Nay Pyi Taw Council, States and Regions held in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 12 p.m. on 10 June and delivered opening remarks.

The coordination meeting was held in a hybrid format and attended in person by the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General, the Director General and the Deputy Director General of the Legislative Vetting Department, Advocates General of the respective Regions and States, members of Development Committees and senior officials, with a total of 50 participants, as well as online by the Development Committees of Kachin State, Chin State and Tanintharyi Region. The Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union said that the previous meetings had been organised by the Steering Committee for Vetting Development Laws to coordinate discussions on the application of development laws and that a Model Law had been drafted; the present meeting was organised for the purpose of uniformity among various development laws; the draft of the Regions and States Development Law and the draft of City Development Law were distributed; the participants were encouraged to discuss the provisions in the draft laws; in implementing the development works mentioned in the draft Model Law, matters that are compatible with their regional circumstances can be selected and acted on; and the participants were encouraged to discuss any provisions in the draft City Development Law that are incompatible with their respective areas or to propose additional provisions, as efforts should be made to achieve as much uniformity as possible among City Development Laws.

After that, the Advocates General of the Regions and States, members of Development Committees and senior officials discussed the draft laws and the meeting was concluded in the afternoon.
