The Attorney General of the Union attends the Annual Assembly of International Development Law Organization

         H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, Attorney General of the Union attended the Annual Assembly of International Development Law Organization (IDLO) held in Rome,Italy from 29 to 30 December.

        To this assembly, responsible persons from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, the President, the Director General and persons in charge of IDLO, donor countries to IDLO and distinguished guests from member countries of IDLO attended.

        The Attorney General of the Union discussed that Myanmar is now transforming to democracy and reforming to develop every sectors including legal sector; the Union Attorney General’s Office prioritizes the rule of law by laying down 2015-2019 Strategic Plan; on the development of the rule of law and justice sector, UNDP and IDLO establish Rule of Law Centers for promoting public legal awareness with the guidance of Head of the State and the UAGO also cooperate in this activity; we hope IDLO to provide assistance for the development of Myanmar Legal Sector.

         IDOL is an organization focusing on rule of law, peace, development of justice sector and sustainable development in developing countries and in countries which are transforming to democracy; cooperation was made between IDOL and AGO on capacity building of law officers and the implementation of fair trial standards in accordance with international standards since 2013 and memorandum of understanding was signed in January, 2016 to carry out further promoting for rule of law and justice sector development.
