Attorney General of the Union receives UN Secretary’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence against Women in Conflict Ms. Pramila Patten and Delegation

       H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Attorney General of the Union received UN Secretary’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence against Women in Conflict Ms. Pramila Patten and delegation at the International Call Chamber of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 15:30 p.m. this afternoon.

       At the meeting , the Attorney General of the Union discussed the involvement of the Union Attorney General’s Office in the amending and enacting laws, and prosecution against crimes , a bill on prevention on violence against women was being drawn up in accordance with Intern ational Conventions by the Ministry concerned , and will be submitted to the Hluttaw, taking actions against crimes of violence against women are being conducting according to the existing criminal laws and special laws, the nationwide casefire agreement signed between Myanmar government and ten ethnic armed groups includes rules and regulations on protecting women and civilians.

       The UN Secretary’s Special Representative  on  Sexual  Violence  against Women in Conflict discussed a joint declaration on sexual violence  against women was signed with Myanmar government on 7 December 2018, close cooperation will be conducted to implement its function s, supports will be provided to review and advice in order to improve the laws and training courses for relevant persons to conduct cases effectively .

       The Deputy  Attorn ey General U  Win  Myint, Permanent  Secretary Daw Nu Nu Yin, Directors General Daw Khin Cho Ohn and Dr. Thida Oo also attended this meeting.
