The members from the ASEAN countries and the Permanent Secretary Dr. Thida Oo who is one of the members from Myanmar , Directors General Dr. Swe Swe Aung, Dr. Thi Thi Myint and responsible persons from the Office of the Attorney General of the Union participated in the third meeting of the Governing Body of ASEAN Law Institute held by video conferencing at 8:30 a.m. this morning.
The ASEAN member countries established the ASEAN Law Association in 1979, and Myanmar has become a member in 2012. The ASEAN Law Association established the ASEAN Law Institute in Manila, the Philippines in 2018 to provide the ASEAN legal matters.
In this meeting, they discussed programmes for ASEAN Law Institute to be able to stand as an organization established by law, processes of the association of the (2020-2024) strategic plan, processes that are completed or not according to the 2020 work plan, the suspended work due to covid-19 epidemic, study of ASEAN Investment Agreement and domestic investment laws of individual country, the work plan to be implemented in 2021, educational exchange among ASEAN jurists and the plan for upcoming meeting.
