H.E. Dr. Thida 00, the Attorney General of the Union, delivered the opening speech at the ceremony to mark Yd Anniversary of Myanmar Law Information System provided by UAGO, held this morning.
In addressing her speech, she said that the Office of the Attorney General of the Union is an organization which is involving in State’s Legislative, Executive and Judiciary Sector, and is cooperating with the relevant departments and organizations, and local and international development partners for having adequate resource and providing better legal services for the interest of the State and the Public; the Office of the Attorney General of the Union is enable to launch www.mlis.gov.mm successfully on May 24, 2018 with the aid of KOICA and with the technical assistance of Ministry of Legislation of Korea; MLIS is now turning to the Yd Anniversary on May 24, 2021; it is an honor that MLIS, the free of charge website provided by UAGO to access law information, is the first launching system by Myanmar in Southeast Asia; when it is started to launch, a total of 7,064 law information could be uploaded, but within three years, a total of 10,761 law information can be uploaded and provided free-of-charge, and the number of viewers reached up to 1,260,000; the aim of the launching MLIS is to search and apply law information through internet easily and to provide legal awareness for promoting the rule of law; it aims to support peace building and development of the country by raising the Public’s legal awareness; due to uploading the law information to the MLIS as complete as possible, law researchers, law students, legislative drafters, legislators and observers can access it as a law library; Legal Translation Commission Sector is added as additional service to search easily the compilation of laws in Myanmar Version which is translated by the Legal Translation Commission; as it is time to build the E-Government System in Myanmar, launching MLIS by UAGO is a kind of supporting E-Government System; to access MLIS easily as e-Law Library, she urges the relevant ministries to cooperate for the long existence of MLIS by sending law information in a timely manner for uploading the complete Myanmar law information to the MLIS of the UAGO.
U San Lwin, the Deputy Attorney-General, Permanent Secretaries and responsible persons from the Union Ministries, directors general, deputy directors general and directors from the Office of the Attorney General of the Union attended the ceremony.
