Holding the 12th Meeting of Working Committees and Working Groups of the Legal Translation Commission

The 12th Meeting of Working Committees and Working Groups of the Legal Translation Commission was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 9:00am, this morning.
During the meeting, Dr. Thida Oo, Chairperson of the Legal Translation Commission, said that this meeting was the fifth meeting during her tenure as the Chairperson of the Commission; and five laws were translated and published as legal translation books Nos. (9, 10, and 1 1) during this period.

Moreover, the Penal Code was published as book No. 9 in Myanmar Version and would be republished in both Myanmar and English Versions under the guidance of the Chairman of the State Administration Council and would be available soon.

In addition, legal professionals and lawyers were interested in laws and citizens read the published legal translation books, and they discussed and commented on the translation of the published legal translation books in persons or via social media; any constructive comments or suggestions were welcome; and the members of the Commission should make their efforts to produce good translation to their best.

The Minister added that she thanked to the members of the Commission and each member of the working groups for their effective translation; and clear and good translation would be produced because all the members of the Commission made discussion about laws with references to their best. She suggested that the translation should reflect accurately the meanings of the original text and should be consistent with the spirit of law.

In conclusion, she urged that the Trust Act would be discussed in the meeting and all members should make positive discussion about the Act with each other.

The members of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committees and Working Groups attended the meeting and the duration of the meeting would be for two days.
