Holding the Opening Ceremony of Basic Training Course in Commercial Contracts  No. 1/2023 for Officials from Ministries

The opening ceremony of Basic Training Course in Commercial Contracts No. 1/2023 conducted by the Ministry of Legal Affairs was held at the ground floor meeting room in the Ministry of Legal Affairs in this evening at 1 1 :30 AM and the Union Minister and Attorney-General of the Union Dr. Thida Oo delivered an opening speech.

In her speech, she said that the reasons of opening this training course were to share legal knowledge about scrutiny of commercial contracts with the officials from various ministries under the direction of the Head of the State to fulfil the Goal 2 Aim 2/2 of strategic plan (2020-2024) namely providing legal services for justice, to make contracts in accordance with the existing laws, rules and regulations without unnecessary delay and to include all the required terms and conditions in the contracts; she hoped that this course would help the officials to reduce unnecessary delay through a faster process in scrutinizing contracts between Union Government Departments or Organizations and investors from Myanmar and foreign countries; the Ministry of Legal Affairs scrutinized and tendered legal advice on the contracts (final drafts) between the contracting parties, upon the request of the relevant departments, in accordance with the Attorney-General of the Union Law and the Attorney-General of the Union Rules; the Ministry of Legal Affairs was cooperating with the partners and Union Ministries; the Ministry of Legal Affairs scrutinized and tendered legal advice on commercial contracts between Government departments or organizations and local as well as foreign investors, companies and organizations in accordance with the existing laws, rules and regulations to build trust, to ensure legal validity of such contracts and not to harm both sides; commercial contracts could be of different types depending on the nature of the business; and she urged all the trainees to take notes carefully because this course would help them to improve their abilities and understanding of Myanmar Economic Framework, commercial disputes resolution, the nature of terms and conditions of the contracts, amended contracts, termination of contracts, joint venture agreements, B.O.T contracts, land lease agreements and drafting and scrutinizing the contracts relating to deed of assignment.

51 trainees from the Bar Council and 15 Ministries attended this training course.
