Holding the Coordination Meeting of the Second Amending Law of the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law (Draft)

The Coordination Meeting of the Second Amending Law of the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law (Draft) was held in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 14:00 p.m. this evening.
The Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General H.E. Dr. Htain Lin Oo, Director General of the Legislative Vetting Department Dr. Thida San and the person concerned from the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs H.E. Major General Toe Vee, Police Brigadier General Kyaw Lin and the persons concerned from the Myanmar Police Force attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Union Minister and the Attorney General of the Union delivered the opening speech and H.E. Major General Toe Vee discussed the reason for amending the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law.

Then, Police Brigadier General Kyaw Lin discussed the reasons for amending the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law. These include to align it with the extended organizational structure of Myanmar Police Force and the expressions defined in the new Myanmar Police Force Law; to confer authorities including administrative power, detention power on police force members who commit a crime, summary trial powers not only to the Region or State Police Commander but also to the heads of the Police Training School, whose rank is equal to or higher than that of a Police Colonel; to amend and insert the necessary sections in the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law.

The Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union discussed that the Myanmar Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law is necessary to amend to be in line with the current conditions and finalized the discussion on the sections to be amended.
