The opening ceremony of Legal Advocacy Training Course No. 1, designed for mid-level civil service personnels serving in the various government departments and organizations, was held at the first floor of MOLA Lecture Hall situated at the Legal Advocacy Centre of the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
At the opening ceremony, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union H.E. Dr. Thida Oo addressed that this training course will be the first batch at this Legal Advocacy Centre, which was launched by the Head of the State on April 29th , 2024.
Previously, each subjects of legislative drafting, vetting of commercial contracts, practical application of International Law and ASEAN Laws, Civil Law and General Legal Advice were taught to the mid-level civil service personnels, and now, all these subjects are organized into a training course and a total 60 trainees who are at the rank of assistant directors and staff officers will participate in this training which is 50 minutes per session, 69 hours of teaching time and a 24-day course. A lot of legal knowledge will be gained from this course, and it will be beneficial.
Ministry of Legal Affairs is performing its function according to the Strategic Plan of “Providing Legal Service for Justice”, and that service include legislative vetting submitted by the relevant departments, prosecution on behalf of the State, legal advising and, legal advocacy.
Legal Advocacy includes the distribution of various law books, sharing legal information via the Myanmar Law Information System, conducting legal advocacy trainings for the senior and mid-level civil service personnels who are at the rank of Permanent Secretary, Director General, Deputy Director General and mid-level civil service personnel, and intensive courses and refresher training for the law officers of the Ministry of Legal Affairs. All the course will be taught by experienced trainers from the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
She addressed that trainees may gain substantial amount of knowledge by attending this training which is funded by the department’s budget. Reflecting our willingness to provide legal advocacy and the policy of the head of State to share legal awareness, the Minister encourages the trainees to learn diligently and share their experiences with each other. Assessments and case study activities will be held during the training.
In conclusion, she addressed that trainees may benefit themselves or their departments or the State with the knowledge gained from this training.
The Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union HOE. Dr. Thida Oo, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General Dr. Htain Lin Oo, Departmental Heads, Directors, trainers and trainees of the Ministry of Legal Affairs attended the opening ceremony. Moreover, Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union visited the e-library at the Center and met with the trainees.
