The Myanmar Delegation led by Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union Dr. Thida Oo went to Moscow at the invitation of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. IGOR KRASNOV and met him.
During the meeting, they discussed cordially the cooperation plans to be implemented in 2024-2025 between Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor-General Offices of the Russian Federation, such as the plan for cooperation relating to legal affairs that can be implemented between Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor-General Offices of the Russian Federation; dispatch of legal experts for the exchange about the legal system of the two countries and legal information, holding of joint talks, conferences and workshops and sharing and learning of legal experiences; and dispatch of the scholars who are young generation of the Ministry of Legal Affairs to the universities affiliated with Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation for further study of law.
Then, the roundtable discussion under the title of Structure, Objectives and Organization Activities of the Ministry of Legal Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation was held as the initial implementation of the Cooperation (2024-2025) under the Memorandum of Cooperation between Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and the Head of the Myanmar Delegation, Dr. Thida Oo Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union of the Ministry of Legal Affairs said that the Ministry of Legal Affairs implemented the Strategic plan under four objectives with the theme of “Moving Forward to the Rule of Law” in 2015-2019, and it has been implementing the strategic plan under five objectives with the theme of “Providing Legal Service for justice” in 2020-2024; sustainable cooperation with international organizations and allied countries is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Legal Affairs; the cooperation between the organizations of two countries can be strengthened by holding discussion, workshops and plenary sessions and exchange of experts in order to share about the legal systems, Legislative experience and information according to Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Moreover, Representatives from the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation explained the topics on the processes of prosecution of the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation, processes of initial investigation of the case, building the case in accordance with laws, conducting the cases before the court and procedures of General Department of Supervision over compliance with Federal Laws, and discussed the legal affairs of both countries.
The Memorandum of Cooperation in legal affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation was signed on 12 May 2023, and the Memorandum of Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation was signed on 22 March 2023, and the two countries are cooperating on legal Affairs.
