Website Launching Ceremony of the Myanmar Law Information System Held

H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, Attorney General of the Union attended and delivered the opening speech in the website launching ceremony of the Myanmar Law Information System held at Hilton Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw at 10:00 am today.

The Attorney General of the Union said that today is one of the significant days for the history of the Union Attorney General’s Office; the Myanmar Law Information System, which provides the improvement of rule of law that is priority among the reformative strategies in Myanmar is launched on the website of the Union Attorney General’s Office; establishing the Myanmar Law Information System, the public can study the enacted laws from time to time, and can access them easily on internet websites and mobile phones; this system can improve legal knowledge; it is very important that the supporting from local and international organizations for the improvement of rule of law and development of the nation; regarding the establishment of the Myanmar Law Information System, the Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Union Attorney General’s Office have signed an agreement “Record of Discussion” in October, 2025 and uploaded the historical background of Myanmar laws, existing laws and repealed laws uploaded separately not only relevant ministries and organizations but also administrative, economic and social sectors; it can also search the original laws, amendment, a number of amending, year of amending and Myanmar ruling as well as the international memorandum of understanding which Myanmar has signed; in this system, the law information are uploaded in detailed, and it will benefit for law researchers, law students, legal draftsmen as a law library; businessmen and foreign investors can study about the law relating to business so that they can do business conveniently in Myanmar; it will provide foreign investors for more understanding in Myanmar legal frameworks.

Then, Ms. KimOe-sook, Minister for the Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea said that the Law Information System is an important sector for the development of the nation; the economy of Korea has rapidly growth because of the Republic of Korea has extended legal knowledge and service to the public; the Myanmar Law Information System plays an important role in the development of Myanmar.

Then, Mr. Lee Sang-Hwa, Korea Ambassador to Myanmar, and Dr. Shi Eui Cheol, on behalf of Korea International Cooperation Agency addressed respectively. Dr. Su Su Hlaing, Deputy Director General of the Union Attorney General’s Office presented the process and display of launching of the  Myanmar Law Information System.

The  Myanmar  Law  Information  System  can  be  searched  on  the  website  of UAGO, www.oag.gov.mm and www.mlis.gov.mm as well as mobile phone which will be available in Myanmar and English, and it is a free online search system in this country and abroad.

Presented    at  the   launching     ceremony    were  Union    ministers,  the Deputy Attorney General, Chairman and Secretary  from committees of Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw, Parmanent Secretaries and Directors General from Union organizations and ministries, minister and delegates from the Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea, Korea Ambassador to Myanmar, permanent representatives and delegates from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Advocates General of Region and State, law officers of Region and State, representatives of regional and international organizations, authorized person of stakeholders, representatives from civil society organizations and invited guests.
