Nay Pyi Taw, March 8

The meeting of Working Committee, chaired by the Attorney General of the Union U Tun Tun Oo, on implementation of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) recommendations and compiling a report was held in the meeting hall of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 2:00p.m. today .
In the meeting, the Attorney General of the Union discussed that the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a process that periodically reviews the human rights records of all states, according to the General Assembly Resolution No. 65/251; Myanmar accepted 166 recommendations out of 281 made by the 93 UN Member States in the Second Cycle in 2015; the National Level Committee on Implementation of UPR Recommendations was formed to implement recommendations in 12 sectors; the Working Committee is responsible for 19 recommendations with respect to democracy, peace, rule of law and human rights in order to compile the report on human rights situation in Myanmar which must be submitted in 2020; and all members are required to actively cooperate and give suggestions in order to implement this process for ensuring that the report reflects the comprehensive development of Myanmar.
Then, all participants involved in the meeting discussed about the facts that are essential to be included in the report, the formation of working groups and the future plan.
