H.E U Tun Tun Oo, Attorney General of the Union delivered a speech at the first meeting of the Working Committee on drafting the National Land Law and Harmonization of the Laws related to Land Management held at the meeting hall of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 9 :30a.m . today.
In his speech, the Attorney General of the Union said that the National Land Use Policy Council was formed to implement the national land use policy; the Working Committee on drafting the National Land Law and Harmonization of the laws related to Land Management was also formed to support the National Land Use Policy Council; Supporting Working Group on drafting the National Land Law was also from to support the Working Committee ; this first meeting was held to start performing functions of the Committee; the main functions of the Working Committee are to draft the National Land Law in line with the national land use policy and to amend existing laws related to Land Mana gement for harmonization with each other; the National Land Law (Draft) will include comprehensive provisions relating to sustainable land management, land use rights, protection of the rights of ethnic minorities, settlement of land disputes, and promoting responsible investment in the National Land Law (draft); national-level workshops will be conducted to participate the public in drafting law; the Committee will also provide guidelines to the Supporting Working Group for drafting the law and will accept required technical assistance; the Committee will emphasize on draft law to be in line with national land use policy by obtaining suggestions of relevant persons and the Atton1ey General urged to coordinate and give suggestions on proposed work plan(Draft) for drafting the law.
Members of the Working Committee, members of Supporting Working Group and distinguished guests attended this meeting and discussed the effective implementation of functions of the Committee.
