Current Chairperson of the ASEAN Senior Law Officials Meeting (ASLOM), Deputy Attorney General U San Lwin, attended the 13th ASEAN Political-Security Community Coordination Conference held through video conferencing today 8:30a.m. at the office of the Chairperson of ASEAN in Jakarta, Indonesia, and discussed the activities of ASLOM.
The Deputy Attorney General U San Lwin said that “cooperation among ASEAN countries is being enhanced to improve the legal framework; ASLOM and the ASEAN Law Association (ALA) are cooperating with each other; the process of entering non-ASEAN countries into MLAT is currently being negotiated as the Mutual Legal Assistant Treaty (MLAT) in criminal matters has been incorporated into Annex I to the ASEAN Charter; ASLOM is advising on the review of implementing the ASEAN Charter, ASEAN’s response to Emergencies and Disasters, and the protection of children’s rights, and ASLOM held the first meeting of the Working Group on the Drafting of the ASEAN Extradition Treaty in April 2021 “
The conference attendees, representatives of each organization of ASEAN, discussed the matters in respect of implementing the APSC Blueprint 2025, and the ASEAN Post-2025 Vision, and the Timor-Leste’s application for a new ASEAN member.
