H.E Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union, receives the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar

H.E Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union, received H.E Mr. Chen Hai, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, in the meeting room of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw at 1 :00 P.M. this afternoon.

The Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union said that she attended the 59th Annual Session of Asia-Africa Legal Consultative Organization- AALCO held in Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, at the invitation of H.E Mr. Wong Yi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the People’s Republic of China; she supported the discussion on the theme proposed by China, ” Upholding International Law for A Community of Shared Future: the Role of Asian and African Countries” at the AALCO Conference; preparation for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the China-ASEAN Legal Research Center and the Ministry of Legal Affairs was being made based on the friendship between China and Myanmar; there would be cooperation in the fields of Legislative Research, Cultivation of Legal Talents and Legal Consulting Services under such MOU; regarding capacity building, the Ministry of Legal Affairs had sent Law officers to China for training in order to improve their capacity; the students studying in China were exploring legal issues and gaining international experience; China-Myanmar are now discussing hosting the China-ASEAN Prosecutors General Conference in Myanmar, and she expressed her heartfelt thanks for the support of China to Myanmar.

H.E Mr. Chen Hai, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar said that he sympathized with the local people who were affected by Cyclone Mocha that occurred in Myanmar; China would provide support in the rehabilitation services; he would provide the necessary assistance for the MOU to be signed with the Ministry of Legal Affairs; China would cooperate more in the matters of legislation, judiciary and enforcement of the rule of law; he would like to implement the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone, deep-sea port project as soon as possible.
