The Myanmar Delegation Led by H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union Attends the Signing Ceremony of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Prosecutors/Attorneys-General Meeting Held in Bali, Indonesia

H.E. Dr.Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union, leading the Myanmar delegation, attended the signing ceremony of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Prosecutors/ Attorneys-General Meeting (APAGM) held in Bali, Indonesia, from 15 to 16 September 2025, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Burhanuddin, the Attorney General of Indonesia. The Attorneys-General from ten ASEAN Member States and the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN from the ASEAN Secretariat also attended the ceremony.

During the signing ceremony of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Prosecutors/ Attorneys-General Meeting, H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union, said that the ASEAN Prosecutors/Attorneys-General Meeting was agreed to be established following the outcomes of previous meetings, as part of efforts to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045: the 1st Consultative Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2023, the 2 nd Consultative Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia in 2024, the 3 rd Consultative Meeting held in Siem Reap, Cambodia in 2024; and the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits held in Vientiane, Lao PDR in 2024; the establishment of this meeting is intended to foster cooperation among ASEAN Member States in the area of prosecution and other related matters in accordance with the respective domestic laws of the States; the APAGM will function as a forum to facilitate prosecution cooperation among ASEAN Member States in accordance with domestic laws, to support international legal cooperation, to promote the capacity-building among ASEAN public prosecutors and conduct training programmes and professional exchanges Data(D)Office/2025 Website to improve prosecutorial skills, to enhance their capabilities to address and counter non-traditional and technology-driven crimes, to coordinate with and support other ASEAN Sectoral Ministerial Bodies on prosecutorial issues, and to encourage the exchange of legal frameworks and prosecutorial practices across Member States; and the signing of this Declaration marks a new chapter in the area of ASEAN legal cooperation.

At the ceremony, the Attorneys-General of ASEAN Member States signed the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Attorneys-General Meeting.

It was noted that the signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Prosecutors/ Attorneys-General Meeting will strengthen the cooperation among ASEAN Member States in combatting transnational crimes, enhance goodwill and friendship among Member States, and strengthen prosecutorial cooperation among the offices of Prosecutors/Attorneys-General of ASEAN Member States.
