UNION ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDS FIFTH COORINATION MEETING WITH REGON OR STATE ADVOCATES GENERAL, REGION OR STATE LAWOFFIERS

     The fifth meeting between the Union Attorney General and Advocates General of the Region or State, and the Region or State law officers was held at the ground floor meeting hall of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 12:30 p.m. today.

     In the meeting, H. E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Union Attorney General delivered an opening speech. He said the government is setting up policies to  implement the amendment to the Constitution, which serves as the basic foundation for the rule of law, raising the socio-economic condition of the people, national reconciliation, internal peace, and the establishment of a democratic federal union. Law officers must lend their support to make the government’s policies a success. As the Region or State Advocates General are members of the Region or State governments, they must provide necessary legal advice, according to the law, to their respective governments and departmental organizations. Care must be taken so that legal advice given by and prosecution conducted by the Union Attorney General’s Office and all levels of law offices are true and correct. When prosecuting, police papers and cases must be studied carefully, and laws related to the cases must be studied completely. In filing the cases to the court, important evidence, the law which the cases is being tried, rulings should be included, and the ·proceeding must be done speedily. Officials must be deal with the public courteously, and take care to ensure the court appointments are not missed. Revisions and appeals must be filed during limitation without delaying. When conducting their work, law officers must uphold ethics and norms, fair trial standards without any corruption or bias . All officials must cooperate and participate in establishing the rule of law and propagating of legal knowledge. The Region and State Advocate General’s Offices must submit the law related information in a timely manner so that it can be upload in the Myanmar Law Information System posted on the Union Attorney General’s Office website. To uphold and protect the rights and privileges of the people, law officers must strive towards becoming good public servants. They must be fair, unbiased, qualified, and work according to the law. The two day coordination meeting will end 16 November. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Attorney General, the Region or State Advocates General, the Permanent Secretary, Directors General , Deputy Directors General, Directors , and the Region or State law officers.
