Holding the Eighth Meeting of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar

The Eighth Meeting of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar was held at the Meeting Hall, on the Ground Floor of the Ministry of Legal Affairs with Hybrid Format this afternoon at 13:00. The Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General of the Ministry of Legal Affairs as well as Chairman of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar, Dr. Htain Linn Oo delivered speech in the meeting. 

The members of the Working Committee on  Legal Affairs  for  the  Elimination  of Child Labour in Myanmar who live in Nay Pyi Taw attended the meeting in person; representatives of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs  of the Region or State Administration Council, representatives  of  the  Yangon  and  Mandalay  Region Development Committees, representative of the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, representative of  the  Myanmar  National  Committee  for Women’s  Affairs  attended the  meeting via  online.

In the opening speech, the Chairman  of the Working  Committee  on  Legal Affair s for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar said that the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of  Child  Labour  in  Myanmar  adopted  detailed  work  plans for the second 5 years work plan (2024-2028) of the eight Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the  Elimination of Child  Labour in Myanmar  based on the implementation  of the first 5 years work plan of the National Level of elimination of child labour in Myanmar, the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar intended to be carried out the five points of the second 5 years work plan (2024-2028), these are ( 1) holding regular meetings once every three months, if  necessary, to hold emergency meetings; (2) to hold workshops participated with the members of the Committee to achieve successfully in implementing the work plan; (3) to discuss revising and amending to laws and drafting new laws, if necessary, with members of the working committee, other working committees and related  organization;  ( 4)  to  conduct investigation and take legal action for child labour; (5) to give awareness and  raise capacity  building to the  participants,  and  he wants to  deliver  to  implement the  said  five Data ( D ) Off ice/ 2025 Website points by the members of the Working Committee, the five points of the second 5 years work plan (2024-2028) of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar were approved and distributed to the members of the Working Committee, and there is the nine points to be carried out according to the said working plans, and he urged that these points would be required to implement effectively in accordance with the guidance  of the Myanmar National Committee on Child Labour Elimination.

Then, Secretary of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar and Director General of the Legal Advice Department of the Ministry of Legal Affairs U Kyaw Kyaw Naing approved meeting minutes of the Seventh Working Committee meeting and explained the enforcement of the resolutions of the Seventh Working Committee Meeting, the current processes of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar, matters to be inserted the inference in the legal provisions relating to child labour by the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar, and the members of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanma r discussed the matters to be carried out.

After that, the participants in the meeting discussed and gave advice on completed matters, ongoing matters, and matters to be performed for their relevant sectors in child labour elimination according to the second 5- years work plan (2024-2028), and the Secretary of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar figured out five points to resolve in the Eighth Working Meeting and got approval for these  points.

Finally, Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General of the Ministry of Legal Affair s as well as Chairman of the Working Committee on Legal Affairs for the Elimination of Child Labour in Myanmar Dr. Htain Linn Oo delivered a closing remark and concluded the meeting.
