The sixth coordination meeting the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union and Advocates General of the Region/State, Law Officers of the Region/ State and District Law Officers was held at the ground floor meeting this morning.
At the meeting, H.E. Dr Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union said that this meeting was continuously held to facilitate coordination among the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the offices of the Advocates General of Region/State for functions that require coordination; the Ministry of Legal Affairs has been working to improve all aspects of its functions; legal seminars and legal workshop were held in coordination with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation; the Memorandum of Understanding on Legal Cooperation and Legislative Research Project was signed on 17.7.2024 between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the China-ASEAN Law Research Centre; the third strategic plan of the Ministry of Legal Affairs (2025-2029) will be implemented with the theme “Building Legal Trust For The People” with 5 goals and 61 strategic plans; Diploma in Law(DlL) and law courses for university students and lawyers will be opened according to this strategic plan; law subjects will be introduced in the curriculum of Grade 12; the establishment of e-library will be expanded; the Legal Advocacy Training Course has been provided to officials up to the level of Permanent Secretary and Director General in various ministries; legal knowledge dissemination training for Grade 11 and Grade12 teachers organized by the Ministry of Legal Affairs and each Region and State is provided to students in basic education level, our ministry disseminates legal knowledge to the civil service(31010) and provides capacity building training for law officers, the five members of Bar Council who are not civil servants will hold the discussions about the rule of law and legal affairs
5.5.2025 to 9.5.2025; the eight edition of ethics, responsibility and rights of lawyers” has been publishing and distributing; the activities of the Ministry and weekly newsletter has been uploading in www.mlis.gov. mm; officers and staff are to be trained to achieve the activities of e-Government; moreover, the State Administration Council organized Legal Advocacy Supervisory Committee to disseminate legal knowledge among the public and to easily access the legal service with Al technology; it is necessary that the officers and staff assigning duties from the different levels of law offices to understand and apply the relevant existing laws and legal provisions; to adopt curriculum and compile the legal summary handbook and to manage the legal advocacy dissemination plans to respect and comply with the law by all citizens; and it is necessary to use effectively and correctly the allocated budget within the designated period; it is necessary to abide by the notification dated on 17.1.2023 of the Ministry of Legal Affairs in vetting the draft laws by law officers from the Office of Advocate General of Region or State; it is necessary to conduct seminars and workshops on prosecution functions and to share knowledge with each other for improvement of the qualities of the law officers; in 2024, the legal awareness sector, the Ministry of Legal Affairs complied and published three kinds of pamphlets on fake news, the Anti-trafficking in Persons Law, Law relating to Overseas Employment, Trademark Law and Copyright Law and these pamphlets were distributed to the public through the Office of Advocate General of Region or State and distributing them; and according to the Strategic Plan (2025-2029), the pilot law offices will be expanded and established in addition to the eighteen pilot law offices to enhance case management in different level of law offices.
The Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General H.E. Dr. Htain Lin Oo, Advocates General of the Region and State, Directors General from Ministry’s Office and Departments, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Deputy Directors General, Directors, Law Officers of the Region/ State and District Law Officers attended this meeting.
