The Opening Ceremony of the Internship Course No.2 in legal studies for law students from Naypyitaw State Academy was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs this morning.
H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union, Directors General, Deputy Directors General and Directors from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and the Rector, the Professor (Head) of the Department of Law, teachers and the participating law students from the Naypyitaw State Academy attended the opening ceremony.
Firstly, H.E. Dr Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union said that the Ministry of Legal Affairs has opened, the Internship course in legal studies as Course No.2 for the Ministry of Education, especially for law students from Naypyitaw State Academy; the Ministry of Legal Affairs adopted: 2015-2019 strategic plan “Moving Forwards to the Rule of Law”, 2020-2024 strategic plan “Providing legal Service for Justice” and has now launched and is implementing 2025-2029 strategic plan “Building Legal Trust for the people”; as part of the strategic plan it includes an initiative to provide internship courses for law students from the respective Universities; in the future, it would be more preferable to invite, not only law students from Naypyitaw State Academy but also those from other Universities and to offer the courses with at least twenty or twenty five trainees per course; the students attending this course should gain a thorough understanding of the functions of the Ministry of legal Affairs which handles the government’s legal matters; since the Ministry of Legal Affairs is engaged in all; three pillars of the state; -Legislature, Judiciary and Executive-, the students will gain a comprehensive overview of these pillars in a single study course; there are five
Departments in the Ministry: the Minister’s Office managing staff transfer and promotion Legislative vetting Department, the Legal Advice Department handling international agreements, and commercial contracts, as well as providing general legal advice not involving prosecutorial matters, the Prosecution Department conducting prosecution functions on behalf of the government in both civil and criminal cases, and the legal Advocacy Department, therefore the students are required to observe the functions of each Department; all Departments will extend a worm welcome to them and provide valuable theoretical knowledge and hands-on training, Internship Course No.(l) was successfully opened in 2024 and the students are encouraged to pursue their studies diligently; in addition to the Ministry of Legal Affairs, study tours will also be arranged to the Office of the Constitutional Tribunal, the Supreme Court of the Union, National Library, Pyinmana District Law Office, Zabuthiri Township Law Office and Legal Advocacy Center; and as legal knowledge is important and significant, she urged the students to apply both theoretical and practical knowledge to be gained from this course in their future legal studies as needed, as well as their own benefit or for the benefit of the departments where they will be employed, or for the benefit of the State.
Then, the Rector of Naypyitaw State Academy explained the teaching methods of Naypyitaw State Academy and she expressed her sincere gratitude for the opportunity given to the students to gain understanding of practical workplaces and each trainee introduced themselves individually, and on behalf of all the trainee, a representative delivered words of thanks. The Internship Course No.2 in legal studies will be conducted over a period of six weeks, from October 1 to November 13, 2025. After that, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union took commemorative photo with the students from Naypyitaw State Academy.
