The 4th meeting of ASEAN Inter-Parliament Advisory Council on Dangerous Drug was held by the online virtual system at the International Convention Center in
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on 24th May, 2021. The representatives of Parliament from ASEAN countries attended the meeting in their respective countries as well as the representatives of the Office of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Office of the Attorney General of the Union from Myanmar also attended the meeting at the meeting room of the Office of the Attorney General of the Union.
At the Meeting, the rotating chairperson of AIPA from Brunei Darussalam delivered an introductory speech and a presentative of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) discussed a progress in narcotic drug eradication. The relevant representatives from ASEAN countries also presented the amendment of law with regard to narcotic drug in the respective countries, challenges, situations of co-operation with ASEAN countries, international co-operation, prosecution and seizure of drugs. In addition, the resolution (draft) on response to the challenges of a drug-free ASEAN and the improvement of the current situation was discussed by the representatives in this meeting and it will be approved by the AIPA General Assembly.
