In cooperation of the Union Attorney General’s Office and the Embassy of Switzerland, the Discussion of Exchanging legal Experience and Legal Knowledge Distribution was held in the Engyin Hall of Horizon Lake View Resort at Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Zone at 9:00 a.m. today.
In the Opening Ceremony, H.E. Mr.Paulseger, Switzerland Ambassador to Myanmar said that this discussion was held for combating corruption that causes deterrent in reforming Myanmar as the democracy country and preventing and fighting the financial investments and wealth acquired by illicit way which impacts the economic development of the country in the future. Dr. Thida Oo, Director General of Legal Advice Department, also said that the wealth by corruption and illicit cash flows on the democracy course which go ahead of the country may be obstructed, prevented and combated by getting the experiences of anti-corruption and international law provisions relating to recovery and obstruction of the cash and properties acquired by illicit way, law enforcement agencies may perform together with the international organizations by the experiences from this discussion in respect of such matters.
Holding discussion, according to the program, the responsible officials from the organizations discussed about the provisions of the current existing law of Myanmar, current practices, needs and challenges. Legal experts from the World Bank and IINDO Organizations and Switzerland Ambassador Mr. Paul explained and discussed about legal experience.
The Director General and the Deputy Director Generals from the Union Attorney General’s Office, the Switzerland Ambassador, the legal experts from the international organizations and the Chiefs from the relevant ministries and sixty officers in total attended and discussed. The discussion will continue until today evening.
