The Bar Council Meeting (2/20 19) was held in the Meeting Room of the Union Attorney General’ s Office at 10:00 a.m. this morning .
In the meeting, H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Attorney General of the Union, the Chirman of the Bar Council said that the Law Amending the Bar Council Act has been enacted by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on 10 June, 2019; the Bar Council shall elect 11 advocates, who are nominated by advocates and has served for at least 15 years, in accordance with the rules to be issued by the Supreme Court of the Union under this amending law; the Bar Council shall give the recommendations urgently to the Supreme Court of the Union to issue such rules; 438 applications for the registration of advocates will be scrutinized and approved in this meeting; the smart cards for advocate licences has already been made for 2012 people out of 3649 people sent by the relevant Region or State; they will be distributed after accomplishing. Then, the members of the Bar Council discussed matters related to the Law Amending the Bar Council Act, recommendations for the codes of advocates, and applying to register as advocates. The meeting is concluded in the afternoon.
The Chairman, Vice-Chairman and 10 members of the Bar Council were also attended this meeting.
