Holding the Fifth Steering Committee Meeting on Rule of Law and Human Rights Working Plan

          The fifth steering committee meeting on the Rule of Law and Human Rights working plan which is presided jointly by U Tun Tun Oo, the Union Attorney General, and Ms. Dorte Chortsen, Charge’ d’affaires a.i. of Denmark Embassy, was held at the meeting room of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 14:00 p.m today.

       At the meeting, the Attorney General of the Union said the plan on the rule of law and human rights has been implementing jointly under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Union Attorney General’s Office and the Denmark Embassy since 2017; workshops on implementation of the human rights conventions including drawing laws, the code of ethics for law officers, fair trail standards and research were held; the human rights conventions and the code of ethics for law officers were explained at the Advocate General’s Offices of Kachin State and Kayah State in this year; the Union Attorney General’s Office laid down the Strategic Plan (2019-2023) of ‘Justice for Public’ of the Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Coordinating Body and cooperation in enhancing  access  to justice for all; in implementing the tasks of the Strategic Plan:, the Union Attorney General’s Office will be cooperating with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark. At the meeting, attendees discussed future plans to be implemented.

       Officials from the Union Attorney General’s Office, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark and the International Commission of Jurists attended at the meeting.
