Holding the Coordination Meeting of the Law Amending the Animal Health and Livestock Development Law (Draft)

The final coordination meeting of the Law Amending the Animal Health and Livestock Development Law (Draft) was held in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 10:00 a.m. this morning.

The Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General Dr. Htain Lin Oo , Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi and Director General Dr. Ye Tun Win of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Deputy Director General Daw Aye Win of the Legislative Vetting Department and the persons concerned from the Ministry of Legal Affairs attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation discussed the reasons to amend the existing law is that application of private sector investment in the establishment of Animal Quarantine Station (AQS) is occurring; however, the lack of provisions relating to this matter in the law hinders the issuance of registration certificates for livestock farms and permits for Animal Quarantine Stations (AQS). Similarly, the existing law only provides for issuing permits for the establishment of slaughterhouse and slaughtering, but there is no provision for renewing these permits. Therefore, the Ministry is drafting a law to amend the Animal Health and Livestock Development Law, Finally, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union H.E. Dr. Thida Oo discussed that the Animal Health and Livestock Development Law is necessary to amend to be in line with the current conditions.
