Holding the Fifth Meeting of the Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit

H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Attorney General of the Union and the Chairman of the Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit delivered a speech at the fifth meeting of the Unit held at the meeting hall of the Office of the Attorney General of the Union at 9:30a.m. today.

In the speech, the Attorney General of the Union said that the fifth meeting is delayed due to the spread of COVID-19 ; however, the Task Force and the Myanmar Police Force are undertaking constantly monthly activities, making progress and submitting reports ; the Myanmar Police Force is investigating and prosecuting the priority cases within a specified period in accordance with the decisions made at the fourth meeting; in doing so, they went to villages where the conflicts occurred and investigated village administrators, villagers and witnesses; the accused persons are still being investigated; although some accused persons have been identified, they are absconding; the Unit must investigate and identify the accused persons and prosecute them; and investigating criminal cases in the reports of Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) and 1 prosecuting the criminals can support the rule of law and judiciary to deliver justice for the aggrieved persons.

The Vice Chairman, the members of the Criminal Investigation and Litigation Unit and other invited guests also attended this meeting.
