The Final Coordination Meeting for the enactment of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Protection Law (Draft) was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw at 2:30 p.m.
H.E. Dr.Thida Oo, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union, H.E. Dr. Charlie Than, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Industry, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General, Director General of the Legislative vetting Department, Director General of the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection and the officials attended this meeting.
At the meeting, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union delivered the opening speech and the Union Minister of the Ministry of Industry explained that, at the Central Committee for the Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Meeting (1/2023), it was decided that instead of amending the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Law enacted in 201S, the existing law should be repealed and a new law should be enacted and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Protection Law has been newly drafted and Included provisions that were not contained in the previous law, such as those relating to the digital economy, research activities, and start-up business operations, in accordance with the suggestions of the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
After that, the officials attending the meeting discussed the provisions contained in the draft law section by section and the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union also discussed that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Protection (Draft) Law is successfully implemented in accordance with the Government’s policy on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and this law should be enacted in line with current situation in order to support the economic development of the State. Therefore, a final discussion was held to coordinate its enactment.
