The Coordination Meeting of the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Affairs

The meeting of the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Affairs was held in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 9:30 a.m. this morning.

In delivering an opening speech, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union H.E.Dr. T hida 00, as the Chairperson of the Body, said that the State Administration Council formed the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Affairs by notification No.189/2021 on 19-6-2021; it was reformed by notification No. 166/ 2022 on 30-9-2022 and notification No. 174/2023 on 23-8-2023 with 16 members; the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Affairs has already shared the pamphlets related to Anti-Trafficking in person Law, Overseas Employment Law, Trademark Law and the laws that could be used to sue on fake news to various levels of district or township law offices that mainly contact with the public through Region or State law offices to give legal knowledge to the public; the action plans to be carried out by the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Sub-Coordinating Bodies are included in the Strategic Plan 2025-2029 adopted by the Ministry of Legal Affairs under the theme “Building Legal Trust for the People”; according to regional circumstance, the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justic Sector Affairs and Sub-Coordinating Bodies will carry out its main function of resolving the public complaints as much as possible; in accordance with the standard operating procedures she wants the Sub- Coordinating Bodies to collaborate with the relevant departments as much as possible in providing legal knowledge to the public and opening training courses; she urged the attendees to discuss how the Body can adapt the legal grievance of the public to the current situation in coordinating the rule of law and justice sector affairs; the Coordinating Committee for Rule of Law and the Coordinating Committee for Justice Sector Affairs were formed in accordance with to the decision of the first meeting; Director General of the General Administration Department serves as Chairperson of the Coordinating Committee for Rule of Law and Police Brigadier General of the Myanmar Police Force serves as Chairperson of the Coordinating Committee for Justice Sector Affairs and also participate with the representatives from the relevant government departments and organizations; these two Committees are implementing rule of law and justice sector affairs by holding meetings.

Then, the attendees discussed the comments on the strategic initiatives for improving justice coordination, organizing legal awareness campaigns, and building public trust and confidence.

The Vice-Chairperson of the Union Coordinating Body for Rule of Law Centres and Justice Sector Affairs and members attended the meeting in person, and other members of the Sub-Coordinating Bodies from Region or State also attended the meeting through online.
