H.E U Tun Tun Oo, the Attorney General of the Union, receives Ms. Virgina Gamba, a special representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict , at the International Call Chamber of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 2:00p.m. this morning.
During the meeting, they discussed that the Rights of the Child Law was enacted on 23 July in 20 19; two months after the enactment of this Law, Myanmar ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict; such ratification is good for protection of children from involvement in armed conflict and the rights of children affected by armed conflict, and for their benefit ; the protection of children from involvement in armed conflict and the rights of children affected by armed conflict is provided in section 17 of the Rights of the Child Law; the Union Attorney General’s Office will cooperate in raising legal awareness among the public and organizations which will implement this Law and in the implementation of this Law to be effective and efficient; the Union Attorney General’s Office is cooperating with the United Nations organizations in implementing plans for Rule of Law and Justice for All; and the Union Attorney General’s Office will cooperate with CTFMR (Country Tasks Force on Monitoring and Reporting ) in undertaking its tasks.
H.E. U Win Myint, the Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Thida Oo, the Permanent Secretary, Directors General and Dr. Thi Thi Myint, the Deputy Permanent Secretary also attended this meeting.
