H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Attorney General of the Union received the resident representative Ms Hai Kyung Jun and the deputy resident representative Ms Yukiko Iriyama for Myanmar of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at the meeting hall of the Office of the Attorney General of the Union at 14:00 p.m. today.
In the meeting, the Attorney General of the Union discussed the functions and duties of the office; strategic plans; the rule of law and justice affairs; cooperation with international organizations; implementation of peace processes in the post 2020; signing on the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in armed cont1ict, and enactment of the Child Rights Law; implementation of the recommendation of the Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) related to the Rakhine situation; submission of the third-circle report for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and the review of UPR on the report on 25 January, 2020.
After that, Ms Hai Kyung Jun, the UNHCR resident representative discussed the cooperation works between the Office of the Attorney General and UNHCR in other country; matters to be cooperated between the two offices UNHCR and UAGO; the improved legal reform of Myanmar in the protection of children rights; and transparent collaboration in the rule of law and justice sector reforms by UNHCR.
The Deputy Attorney General H.E . U Win Myint, Permanent Secretary Dr. Thida Oo, and Director General Dr. Swe Swe Aung attended the meeting.
