The Bar Council Meeting No. 1/ 2026 was held at the Bar Council Office in Culster – 1, Building no. (6) of Nay Pyi Taw (Gold Camp) Stadium, Wunna Theikdi Quarter, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw at 9.00 am this morning.
In the meeting, they discussed and decided that the recommendation requested by the Supreme Court of the Union as to whether any objections has been filed against the applications of 164 Higher Grade Pleaders for enrolment as advocates; and the recommendation requested by the Supreme Court of the Union as to whether 13 advocates who had breached the Code of Lawyer’s Ethic should be taken action under section 10 (1) of the Bar Council Act, an application by an advocate for a letter of recommendation certifying his good moral character for appointment as a bank lawyer, the resignation of U Mya Thein, a member of the Bar Council, due to his health condition; the resulting vacancy in the position of a member, and the position of a Vice-Chairperson, the amendment to sub rule (b) of rule 1, rule 8 and rule 15, and insertion of sub rule (d) of rule 1 after sub rule (c) of rule 1 of the Rule for the Admission of Advocates, 1954; the matters relating to making record of complaints referred to the Supreme Court of the Union, the matter relating to making record of copies of orders of severe warning, suspension and cancellation against an advocate for appearing in cases.
H.E Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union, as well as the Chairperson of the Bar Council, Dr. Htain Lin Oo, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General, as well as a member of the Bar Council, other members of the Bar Council, and the authorized persons attended this meeting.
