Holding the Bar Council’s Meeting No. 2/2022

      The Bar Council’s Meeting No. 2/2022 is held at the Office of the Bar Council located in building no. 6, Cluster-I, Nay Pyi Taw Goal Camp, Wanathidi Quarter, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.

      During the meeting, H.E, Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Ministry of Legal Affairs as well as the Chairperson of the Bar Council said that the meetings of the Council are quarterly held; the Council has to give the Supreme Court of the Union recommendations on whether advocates who violate professional conduct should have action taken against them and it has any objection on the applications for enrolment as advocates filed by 121 higher grade pleaders after scrutinizing the applications and deciding on their enrolment; the members of the Council can present research papers if any; the Council should plan to provide training on code of conduct for advocates, applied laws, implementation of laws by respective Union Ministries, Union Government and rule of law and justice; the matters relating to specification of the Bar Council’s logo and publication of calendars and diaries need to be discussed; it has to reply to the request of Myanmar Police Force to verify the identity of an advocate from time to time; it receives the petitions for renewal of advocate licences that have been expired due to any reason and refers them to the Supreme Court of the Union; and advocate identity card (smart card) is issued at a cheaper price of 1500 kyats per card. Then, the meeting goes on according to its items.

       The Chairperson of the Bar Council, its members: U San Lwin, the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, advocates: U Mya Thein, Daw Khin Nu Thar, U Hla Han, U Soe Myint, U Soe Thein and U Win Phay, Daw Tin Nwe Soe, Director General, Office of the Judiciary Supervision, the Supreme Court of the Union, Dr. Thi Thi Myint, the Secretary of the Council and Director General of the Ministry of the Legal Affairs and Daw Tint Tint Han, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Legal Affairs attended the meeting and the meeting ended at 11:50 a.m.
