The coordination meeting for the enactment of Marine Fisheries Law (draft) was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw at 12:00 a.m. this morning.
H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Dr. Ye Win Tun, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and the responsible officials attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Dr. Ye Win Tun, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation presented that the Marine Fisheries Law (draft) was drafted because the existing Fisheries Laws are outdated due to the passage of time and no longer align with the changing circumstances, have diverged significantly from practices in the field, and are inconsistent with internationally adopted Laws and regulations.
H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister and Attorney General of the Union of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, discussed that the Head of the State directed to support agriculture and livestock so as to promote an agriculture and livestock based economy and the Union Government directed ministries to prepare important and appropriate Laws from among the pending bills of the the previous Hluttaw to be submitted to the upcoming Hluttaw, this draft law must be capable of implementing the development of agriculture and livestock sectors, in accordance with such directions, and the legislative procedure for enactment of the Marine Fisheries Law (draft) will proceed after the necessary amendments to the draft Law are made to align with the current situation.
