Meeting Held to Discuss the Integration of Legal Information into the Myanmar Legal Assistant AI Model

A coordination meeting to discuss the integration of legal information into the Myanmar Legal Assistant Al Model led by the Permanent Secretary was held via a virtual system on May 18, 2026, at (13:00) p.m. at the ground floor meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs in line with the 100-day action plan of the Ministry of Legal Affairs as the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications and the Ministry of Legal Affairs are collaborating on dissemination of legal knowledge using Al technology.

The Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and officials from the National Artificial Intelligence Development Department of Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, officials from the Region and State Advocate General Offices and invited guests from the relevant ministries attended the meeting.

At the discussion, the Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Legal Affairs stated that “Supervisory Committee on Legal Knowledge Dissemination via Artificial Intelligence” was founded under the President’s Office Notification No. 53/2026 as a joint initiative between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the National Artificial Intelligence Development Project, and legal knowledge data is being integrated in the Myanmar Legal Assistant Al Model.

The Myanmar Legal Assistant Al Model will focus on five specific domains, namely the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Penal Code, the Counter Terrorism Law, the Myanmar Investment Law and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law for legal knowledge dissemination during the 100-day plan. She also noted that cooperation and the provision of legal answers are required so that, the Al model can become a reliable and accurate system capable of answering legal questions comprehensively.

Following that, Al experts from the National Artificial Intelligence Development Department explained the importance of data availability in building a successful Al application, and presented a power point presentation on the practical application of the Legal Assistant Al Model. The attendees asked questions and held discussions on matters they wished to know and the Permanent Secretary and the Deputy Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Legal Affairs assigned duties and designated specific action steps for legal knowledge dissemination to the respective Region and State Advocate General Offices in accordance with the 100-day action plan.
