The 8th meeting of the Rule of Law Center and Justice Sector Coordinating Body was held via video conferencing at the meeting room of the Office of the Attorney General of the Union, at 09:30 am this morning, and the Chairman of the Coordinating Body, the Attorney General of the Union, U Tun Tun Oo delivered the speech.
In opening speech of the Attorney General of the Union, he said that the Rule of Law Center and Justice Sector Coordinating Body was formed by the Union Government and the Coordinating Sub-Bodies were formed in Regions and States to implement the Coordinating Body’s duties effectively; an advisory body comprising of subject matter experts was also formed to obtain advices in performing the duties; “Conference on Justice Sector Coordination for Rule of Law” was held on 7.3.2018 to 8.3.2018 to draft the Strategic Plan of the Coordinating Body; the “Justice for Public” Strategic Plan (2019-2023) was drafted in accordance with the recommendations of the participants attending the Conference and approved by the Union Government; four goals_Justice Sector coordination, public trust, educating for Justice Sector and improvement of arrangements for Justice Sector were set in this Strategic Plan; the Coordinating Body published its standard procedures; regular meetings of the Coordinating Body and Sub-Bodies were held; public awareness campaigns were carried out in collaboration with international partners and Coordinating Sub-Bodies; the remaining activities in the Strategic Plan will be implemented; procedures for receiving complaints, field inspection to the scene, cooperation, educating and holding the meeting are included in standard procedures; if the Coordinating Sub-Bodies are able to comply with the procedures , Rule of Law and Justice will be accessible to all; the members of the Region and State Coordinating Sub-Bodies and the relevant Government Organizations need to collaborate with the Coordinating Body.
During the meeting, the Region and State Coordinating Sub-Bodies discussed public awareness campaigns and handling of complaints.
The members of the Coordinating Body, heads and members of the Region and State Coordinating Sub-Bodies attended the meeting.
