H.E. U Tun Tun Oo, the Union Attorney General, attended and delivered a speech at the meeting of the Special Unit on International Criminal Justice held at the meeting hall of the Union Attorney General’s Office at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
In the speech, the Union Attorney General said that the President Office formed the Special Unit on International Criminal Justice comprising representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to effectively provide the legal aid related to International Criminal Justice issues: international crimes mainly include War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide: the Special Unit will study international criminal law and respective conventions, international criminal justice and court’s procedures as well as relevant domestic laws, and report the findings to the authorities concerned in time: and they will evaluate the impact of international criminal law on the State.
After that, attendees discussed functions and duties, and work plans of the Special Unit on International Criminal Justice.
The Deputy Attorney General U Win Myint, the President Office’s Advisor U Maung Wai, Directors General, Deputy Directors General from the Union Attorney General’s Office, Special Unit members and other invited persons attended the meeting.
