Holding the 11th Meeting of the Legal Translation Commission Working Committee and Working Groups

       The 11th Meeting of the Legal Translation Commission Working Committee and Working Groups was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

       In the meeting, the Chairperson of the Legal Translation Commission, Dr.Thida Oo, said that the Legal Translation Commission was reformed by the State Administration Council with Notification No.101/2022 dated on 17.6.2022 that it is required to translate remaining laws in the Commission by subject experts; the Commission approved 31 out of 81 laws which were required to translate, Book No.1 to 10 have been published and Book No.11, which is still in print, will be available soon; the Commission assigned the relevant Working Groups to translate 38 remaining laws into Myanmar initially; the Working Groups are required to translate other laws within the specified period in addition to the laws which are scrutinized after translation; the Commission approved the Myanmar Translation of the Guardians and Wards Act with Order No.5/2022 dated on 5.10.2022 and the Act will be published as Book No.11; the original version is also included in the Book No.11 in order to read together with the Myanmar Version approved by the Commission; the Penal Code published as Book No.9 will be republished by including the original version in addition to Myanmar version in accordance with the guidance of the State Administration Council; the Myanmar version of the Myanmar Stamp Act which was discussed in the tenth meeting is further scrutinized before passing the approval order; the good translations of the Myanmar version will be obtained when the Commission members actively discuss the laws with references; translation is made by legal sense in order not to contradict the meaning of the original version; the Trust Act and the Negotiable Instruments Act will be discussed in the meeting and all members need to discuss the laws positively.

       The members of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committee and Working Groups attended the meeting and the meeting will be held for days.
