Holding the Bar Council’s Meeting No. 2/2023

The Bar Council’s Meeting No. 2/2023 was held at the Office of the Bar Council, located in Building No. 6, Cluster-I, Nay Pyi Taw Goal Camp, Wanathidi Quarter, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, at 1:00 p.m.; H.E. Dr. Thida Oo, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Attorney General of the Union as well as the Chairperson of the Bar Council, U Myo T hint, the Supreme Court Judge of the Union and Vice-Chairperson of the Bar Council, the members of the Bar Council, including Dr. Htain Lin Oo, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Deputy Attorney General, the advocates U Win Aung, Daw Khin Nu Thar, U Hla Han, U Soe Thein, U Win Phay, Daw Tin Nwe Soe, Director General, Office of the Union Judiciary Supervision, the Supreme Court of the Union, Dr. Thi Thi Myint, the Secretary of the Council and Director General of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the following matters were discussed and determined, including the request from the Union Supreme Court regarding whether action should be taken or not against 40 advocates who violate professional conduct under section 10(1) of the Bar Council Act; applications for enrolment as advocates field by 486 higher grade pleaders; amendment to the Rules relating to the Qualification and Admission of Advocates(1954); assignment of duty for Insolvency Practitioners; determining the required working experience for advocate; notifying advocates to apply for position as Intellectual Property Expert; hosting the orders and notifications issued by the Bar Councils on the Ministry of Legal Affairs website (www.mola.gov.mm) (the Bar Council section) to inform the advocates and the matter relating to the building and land application for Bar Council office.
