Holding the 14th Meeting of the Working Committees and Working Groups of the Legal Translation Commission

The 14 th Meeting of the Working Committees and Working Groups of the Legal Translation Commission was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs at 9:00 a.m. this morning.
During the meeting, Dr. Thida Oo, Chairperson of the Legal Translation Commission, said that this was the seventh meeting during her tenure as Chairperson of the Commission; five legal translation books, from book No.9 to 13, were published during this period; book No. 13 was recently published by order No. 1/2024 of the Legal
Translation Commission and it contained Myanmar translations of six laws; in subsections (e) and (g) of section 9 of the Legal Translation Commission Law, the duties of the Legal Translation Commission are to invite and discuss, if necessary, with responsible persons from the relevant government departments and organizations and subject experts in respect of the law to be translated into the Myanmar version; to collaborate with relevant government departments and organizations and the Ministry to contain the amendments completely if there are amendments in the law to be translated into the Myanmar version;
the Myanmar translation of the Myanmar Stamp Act, which has already been discussed in the previous meetings, has been requested for scrutinizing and providing recommendations to the Internal Revenue Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance; the Myanmar translation of the Myanmar Stamp Act will be published as legal translation book No. 14 after a final check;
In this meeting, will discuss and confirm eight laws: The Hindu Disposition of Property Act, The Mussalman Wakf Act, The Hindu Inheritance (Removal of Disabilities) Act, The Kazis Act, The Caste Disabilities Removal Act, The Myanmar Passport Act, The Fatal Accidents Act, and the Poisons Act, and all members are encouraged to participate in the discussion and provide advice to ensure the translations are accurate and consistent.
The members of the Legal Translation Commission, Working Committees and Working Groups attended the meeting, and it would be held for two days.
